Brookmill Park, Lewisham must be one of the best places to see Kngfishers in the country. Kingfisher’s here are not elusive blurs of blue but have become habituate to the park users. You can get quite close to the birds and they are very tolerant. There is a pair in the summertime but during the winter I have watched indivudUals fight to hold their winter territories.
Kingfisher corner is at the southern end of the park. If you go to visit just keep your eyes open. You should see one within 20mins if you are lucky.
I managed to get within five metres of the bird to take some of these pictures. I have plenty of stories about urban London Kingfisher’s – will call for another blog soon I think.
