Westferry Circus Meadow Roof July 1

by Dusty ~ July 13th, 2009. Filed under: Green Roof News.
A visit last week to the Westferry meadow green roof in  Canary Wharf. i hadn’t visited for a year and Dr. Kadas had told me a few weeks ago that  it was really coming into its own. We had built this way back in 2004 as the first field station as part of Dr. Kadas’ Phd study on greenroofs and invertebrates. This field station was funded by Alumasc-Exteriors.The roof has really developed into a beautiful albeit slightly untidy meadow. It was covered in birdsfoot trefoil Lotus corniculatus and Hares Foot Clover Trefolium arvenses. Stands of Vipers Bugloss Echium vulgare stood proud above the meadow. This was the first year that Musk Mallow Malva moschata had been sen flowering with several pink flowers and a lovely white one. Along the wood perimeters a couple of ferns had colonised.
