Urban food and agriculture and nature roof – Vienna

by Dusty ~ July 15th, 2009. Filed under: Green Roof News.

My favourite roof at the moment…combines food, nature and amenity all in one space. I visited at end of may at EFB meeting. It was grand talking to people about the pond at roof level, the small allotments and the Mediterranean garden – a perfect green roof for biodiversity.

This will feature in the Sustain Magazine article on the EFB as an example of good austrian practice as the roof is in Vienna. The fact that it is called sargfabric which means coffin factory is great. There is so much life and activity happening at roof level – including the tortoises that are free rangin and maintaining the roof
